For Turkish citizens planning to travel to Algeria for tourism purposes, it is mandatory to obtain an Algeria tourist visa in order to enter the country. There is no visa-on-arrival practice in Algeria, and all visas are issued only through the consulate. The documents required for tourist visa applications consist of personal documents containing the applicant’s identity information, as well as official documents showing their occupational and social status. There is no obligation to personally go to the consulate for applications; the most important stage of the process is the complete preparation and submission of the documents. The Algerian Consulate generally evaluates tourist visas as short-term. Visas are mostly approved as valid for 10–15 days or 30 days within one month. The consulate does not allow visas to start from a future date; the validity begins from the date of approval. Therefore, it is recommended that you start your procedures as early as possible in line with your travel dates.
Among the most important documents for the Algerian tourist visa is the passport. The validity period of your passport must continue for at least 6 months after your trip. Applications made with torn, damaged, or unreadable passports are not accepted. Your passport must contain at least two blank pages and the photograph must reflect your current appearance. In addition, your passport must not be older than 10 years. You must ensure that your identity information and passport information are consistent, and in cases such as a surname change, you must definitely renew your passport with your updated information.
For applications, it is mandatory to fill out two copies of the Algeria visa application form. The form can be prepared in Turkish or English and must be completed with personal information, family details, purpose of travel, and travel dates. The information declared in the application form must be consistent with the information in the other documents. Contradictory information may result in the rejection of the application. You must not forget that both prepared copies must bear wet signatures.
The Algerian Consulate requires two photographs with a white background, clearly showing facial features and compliant with biometric standards for tourist visa applications. The photographs must be current and must not have been used in any previous application. In addition, it is mandatory to submit your bank account statement covering the last three months. The statement must be obtained from the bank with a stamp and wet signature, and your account must have sufficient balance to cover your trip. ATM receipts are not considered valid; only official banking documents are accepted.
In Algerian tourist visa applications, a hotel confirmation document or an official invitation approved by the Algerian Municipality is required. If your trip is based on an invitation, the invitation must be approved by the municipality. Otherwise, stamped and signed accommodation documents obtained from the hotel must be included in the application. In addition, the consulate requires travel health insurance covering Algeria for applications. The original policy must be submitted, and it must be arranged to start one day before your trip and end one day after your return.
The documents you must submit vary according to your occupational status. In addition, an original full detailed family register copy with wet signature and stamp must be added to the application file.
The processing time of Algerian tourist visa applications generally varies between 4 and 10 business days depending on the evaluation of the documents submitted to the consulate. However, this period is not definite; official holidays, consulate workload, or additional document requests may prolong the process. Therefore, in order to avoid any disruption in your travel plan, it is recommended to apply at least one month in advance.
One of the most important points in Algerian visa applications is that visas cannot be started from a future date. Your visa will be valid from the date it is approved by the consulate. Therefore, you must set your application date in line with your travel. Foreign nationals residing in Türkiye must include their residence permits, blue cards, and travel health insurance policies covering Algeria in their application file.
