Estonia Visa Procedures

Dear visitors, welcome to our page with up-to-date information for 2025 regarding the Estonia visa. Turkish citizens who plan to travel to Estonia, which is one of the Schengen member countries, are required to apply in accordance with the Schengen visa application criteria that suit their purpose of travel. Estonia short-term visas are issued for purposes such as tourism, business, family or friend visits, education, participation in cultural or sports events, and transit. With these visas, a maximum stay of 90 days within 180 days is permitted. For visits exceeding 90 days, applications must be made for long-term D-type visas issued for residence, work, study, or family reunification. Applications for D visas must be submitted in person directly to the Embassy of Estonia, and in order for the application to be approved, it is important that the consular officers are convinced that the applicant will return to Turkey after the end of the trip.

The documents required for the Estonia visa application may vary depending on the applicant’s professional status and purpose of travel. When you prepare your documents and send them by courier, they are carefully checked, and if there are any missing or incorrect ones, you are informed so that you can complete them. Once your documents are complete, your visa application is initiated and the entire process is followed until you receive your passport. As with all Schengen countries, it is mandatory to have international travel health insurance for Estonia visa applications. In addition, flight and hotel reservations covering your travel plan must also be included in the application file.

Biometrics, meaning fingerprint scanning, is mandatory for Estonia visa applications. Applicants who have obtained a Schengen visa within the last five years are not required to give fingerprints again, but for those applying for the first time after this period, this procedure is compulsory. Appointments are made on behalf of the applicant, and support is provided throughout the appointment day to ensure the procedures are completed smoothly. If you will be entering more than one Schengen country during your trip, Estonia must be the country where you will stay the longest in order to apply for an Estonia visa. If you will be staying in all countries for an equal period, then the first country of entry must be Estonia.

Applications for Estonia Schengen visas can be made through visa application centers located in cities such as Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Antalya, Bursa, Edirne, Trabzon, Bodrum, and Gaziantep. Applicants who do not reside in these cities can still send their documents by courier and complete their application. Applications made from Istanbul are evaluated by the Honorary Consulate of Estonia in Istanbul, while applications from other provinces are evaluated by the Embassy of Estonia in Ankara. Many applications from across Turkey fall under the jurisdiction of the Embassy in Ankara.

Applications for Estonia Schengen visas are generally finalized within 7 to 15 business days. However, missing documents, public holidays, peak periods, or requests for additional documents may extend this period. It is especially recommended that applications coinciding with busy periods such as Ramadan or Eid al-Adha holidays be submitted at least 45 days in advance. The Estonia Consulate does not accept applications submitted less than 30 days before the travel date, while the earliest time to apply is 90 days before the planned trip. Applications made from outside Istanbul may also take longer to be finalized.

Estonia visa fees vary depending on the type of visa applied for and the applicant’s professional status. The fees consist of the consular fee, the service fee of the visa center, and the consultancy fee. Once your documents are complete, you will be informed by e-mail of the total amount to be paid. The visa fee can be paid in Turkish Lira via bank transfer or in foreign currency along with your documents. In the event of a refusal, no refund is made.

Applicants traveling to Estonia for family or friend visits must submit an invitation letter. If a municipality-approved invitation cannot be obtained, an invitation letter prepared in Estonian or English by the person residing in Estonia may be sent by e-mail or fax. In addition, a copy of the inviter’s Estonian residence card, ID card, or passport, as well as a rental contract or title deed of the residence, must be included in the file.

It is important that the documents submitted for Estonia visa applications are up-to-date. The documents must have been issued within the last 10 days. In addition, applicants whose surname has changed due to marriage or divorce must ensure that the surname on their passport and ID documents is the same. Applicants under the age of 12 are not required to apply in person, but if traveling alone, a notarized parental consent letter signed by both parents must be submitted. If traveling with both parents, no consent form is required. Applicants between the ages of 12 and 18 must be present on the appointment day and give their biometric data.

Applicants whose Estonia visa applications are refused have the right to appeal the decision within 30 days. For this appeal, which must be submitted in writing to the Consulate or Embassy of Estonia, the applicant is required to pay 20 Euros.
