🇸🇪 Required Documents for a Sweden Family Visit Visa
Dear Visitor, Welcome.
The Sweden family and friends visit visa is a short-term Schengen visa for those who wish to visit their relatives or friends living in Sweden. With this visa, you may stay in Sweden for up to 90 days and spend time with your host. In addition to the standard documents requested by the Consulate, you must also prepare additional documents depending on your personal and professional status. Submitting a complete file is essential for a positive visa result.
Below you will find the updated 2025 list of standard documents, along with detailed requirements for employees, company owners, retirees, students, farmers, and minors under the age of 18.
📌 Standard Documents for Sweden Family and Friends Visit Visa
One of the most important documents is the invitation letter (Inbjudan). It must be written in Swedish or English by the host residing in Sweden, addressed to the Swedish Consulate, personally signed, and dated. The invitation may be sent by fax or e-mail. A photocopy of the host’s Swedish ID or passport must be attached. If the host is a Turkish citizen, copies of their passport and residence permit must also be attached.
In addition, a Personbevis (population registration certificate) issued within the last 3 months must be provided. If the travel expenses are covered by the host, a Lönespecifikation (salary slip) or a document from the Swedish Tax Office must be submitted. If the host is ill or pregnant, the Swedish Consulate may request a hospital report confirming this situation.
Other standard documents include the Schengen visa application form, a valid passport (issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least 3 months beyond the visa expiry date), two recent biometric photos (35x45 mm, colored, white background, taken within the last 6 months), and a full population registration certificate including parents, spouse, and children. A round-trip flight reservation, travel health insurance valid for the entire stay, and proof of financial means must also be included.
Applicants must provide a personal bank account statement covering the last 3 months, showing account activity. There must be at least 40 EUR per day of stay in Sweden. For short stays, it is recommended to maintain a minimum balance of 70,000 TRY. The bank statement must be original, stamped, and signed by the bank, and submitted together with the bank’s signature circular.

🕒 Important Notes
The Swedish Consulate and the Swedish Embassy may request additional documents if necessary. Visa applications are generally processed within 5–7 business days. To avoid delays, it is recommended to apply at least 15 days before your planned travel date, but no earlier than 3 months before.
