🇭🇺 Hungary Visa Application
Dear visitor, you are on the correct page to carry out your Hungary Schengen visa applications. On this page, you will find detailed information about the visa application procedures, required documents, and sample forms as determined by the Hungarian Embassy and Consulate. Holders of Ordinary (Bordo) passports planning a short-term visit to Hungary are subject to Hungary visa procedures.
The Hungarian Consulate accepts applications in cooperation with the diplomatic missions of Norway, Portugal, and Slovenia. For short-term travels, applicants should address their visa applications to the consulate of the country they will visit. However, the ultimate authority for evaluating the applications belongs to the Hungarian Consulate.
There is no regional restriction for Hungary visa applications. Applications from all provinces of Turkey are accepted. Fingerprint data collection is carried out in Istanbul, and our representatives assist applicants during this process. During the application, the Hungarian Consulate may contact you; therefore, it is important to regularly check your phone and email.
The Hungary Schengen visa is generally processed 2 days before the planned travel date. We recommend planning your travel considering this information. Hungary, as part of the Schengen Area, is evaluated under the 'C' type Schengen visa for short-term travel purposes. You can request information regarding visa fees and detailed documents according to your professional situation from our support line.
Types and Purposes of Hungary Visa
The purpose and duration of your travel determine your visa type. For short-term travel (90 days or less), a C-type Schengen visa is required for tourism, business, family visit, cultural, sports, or short-term educational purposes. Long-term stays require Residence Visa, Work Visa, Student Visa, or Family Reunification Visa.
Turkish citizens and foreign passport holders with legal residence in Turkey must obtain a Hungary Schengen Visa. The Schengen visa allows a maximum of 90 days of stay within the Schengen Area in any 6-month period.
Short-term visa categories generally include Tourist Visa, Business Visa, Family Visit Visa, and Transit Visa, while long-term visas include Residence, Work, Student, and Family Reunification Visas. Applicants can request the updated 2023 Hungary visa document list via email.
If you have a VIS-marked Schengen visa issued after 2016, you do not need to apply in person. You can send your documents via courier or mail to initiate your application. If an applicant plans to visit multiple Schengen countries, the visa should be applied for the country where they will stay the longest.
Hungary Visa Appointment and Application Form
Visa appointments can be scheduled through our Call Center. After determining your travel purpose, you must fill out the Hungary visa application form completely. All information on the form must match your passport and identity information exactly. The photograph used must be taken within the last 6 months and comply with Schengen photo standards.
Each applicant must fill out a separate form. Frequent travelers still need to submit updated documents for each trip.
Biometric Procedures
Fingerprint submission is mandatory for Hungary Schengen visa applications up to 90 days. In Istanbul, our representatives will assist you during biometric procedures. If you have a valid VIS-marked Schengen visa issued after 2016 with 5-year validity, you do not need to apply in person. Even with a VIS visa, third parties cannot apply on your behalf.
Hungary Visa Fee and Processing Time
Visa fees vary depending on travel purpose, duration, and additional services. You can obtain updated Hungary visa fee information via our support line. The average processing time is 15 calendar days; however, the visa is usually ready 2 days before travel. We recommend completing your application at least 1 month before your planned travel.
For Central Europe tours and Interrail travelers, the visa should be applied to Hungary if the longest stay is there. The Hungarian Consulate accepts Interrail applications even without purchased tickets, but a detailed travel plan must be submitted, and all travel days must be accounted for.
Required Documents and Sponsorship
Required documents vary according to the purpose of travel. For short-term stays, a C-type Schengen visa is required, and for long-term stays, a long-term visa should be applied for. For tourism, applicants must submit the application form, accommodation and transportation reservations, and proof of financial means to cover expenses during the trip.
If a sponsor covers your travel expenses, the sponsor must prepare income documents for themselves. The Consulate may request additional documents such as old passports, civil registry copies, invitations, hotel, and flight bookings. Failure to provide requested documents may result in a visa refusal.
