🇹🇿 Tanzania Tourist Visa Procedures

Tanzania, with its natural reserves, safari parks, and the famous Zanzibar Island along the Indian Ocean, is one of the most attractive destinations in Africa. Holders of Ordinary (Bordeaux) passports from the Republic of Türkiye are required to obtain a visa for short-term tourist trips to Tanzania. Holders of Diplomatic (Black), Service (Grey), and Special (Green) passports, however, are exempt from visas for visits up to 90 days.

For tourist visa applications, it is crucial that all documents are prepared accurately and the application form is filled in correctly. Marsel Visa provides professional support to help you prepare the necessary documents in the right category and complete your application smoothly.

🏝 Required Documents for Tanzania Tourist Visa

Applicants for a Tanzania tourist visa must submit the following documents:

  • Completed visa application form (handwritten, signed, and with photo attached)
  • Passport valid for at least 6 months after the end of travel
  • 2 recent biometric photographs with a white background
  • Letter in English addressed to the Consulate (must include purpose of travel, dates, and leave details)
  • Photocopy of passport (page with personal details and photo)
  • Photocopy of national ID card
  • Yellow Fever Vaccination Card (must be taken at least 10 days before travel and carried during the trip)
  • Bank statement showing sufficient funds to cover travel expenses

Special attention must be given to item 18 of the application form. For tourist visa applications, the name, address, and contact details of the hotel where you will stay in Tanzania must be written clearly. Otherwise, your application will not be accepted.

📌 Tanzania Visa Applications for Third-Country Nationals

Foreign nationals residing in Türkiye, such as citizens of Sri Lanka, Lebanon, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, Chad, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Bangladesh, Morocco, Afghanistan, Somalia, Mauritania, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Djibouti, and Palestine, as well as refugees and stateless persons, are subject to a special procedure. Their visa applications are only approved by the Immigration Office in Dar es Salaam.

📝 How to Obtain a Tanzania Tourist Visa?

The application process begins with carefully completing the visa form by hand and preparing all the required documents. Once completed, the visa fee must be paid and the receipt attached to the application file before submission. Any missing documents may delay the process. With Marsel Visa, your documents will be checked and your application guided step by step to avoid any errors.

🕒 How Many Days Does It Take to Get a Tanzania Tourist Visa?

If your file is complete, applications are generally finalized within 7–10 business days. However, official holidays, requests for additional documents by the consulate, or the status of foreign passport holders may extend the process. It is recommended to apply at least 15 days before your planned travel date.

📄 Entering Tanzania with a Tourist Visa

Even if your tourist visa is approved, Tanzanian border authorities may request to see your Yellow Fever vaccination card upon entry. Therefore, it is mandatory to have the Yellow Fever vaccine at least 10 days prior to travel, as well as other essential vaccines such as measles, mumps, and polio. You must carry your vaccination card with you throughout your journey.
