🇨🇳 China Visa
In this section prepared for Turkish citizens who will travel to China, detailed information is provided regarding visa policy, current procedures, application steps and the overall process. The People’s Republic of China updated its visa procedures as of 2018 and implemented new standards in applications. As Marsel Visa, we provide professional consultancy throughout every stage of the China visa process, assisting applicants with correct category selection, document preparation, and appointment steps.
Visa is mandatory for Turkish citizens holding a regular (Bordo) passport for touristic, business, visit, and educational purposes. Other passport types are exempt from visa for stays up to 30 days. Entry to Hong Kong and Macau is visa-free for Turkish citizens; however, transitioning from these regions to mainland China requires a visa. For this reason, travel planning must be completed before leaving Türkiye. Individual tourist visa applications are not accepted; only group applications are processed.
China receives a high number of applications for business and commercial visits. Correct document preparation and careful process management reduce delays and the risk of rejection. Progressing with experienced consultancy makes the process safer and more manageable.
China Visa Procedures
Applications are evaluated by the Embassy in Ankara and the Consulate General in Istanbul, and the final decision authority belongs to consular officials. Intermediary agencies manage the procedure but cannot influence the decision. Document responsibility belongs to the applicant; therefore, receiving expert support ensures a significant advantage. First-time applicants must decide whether they require a single or double-entry visa, paying attention to the allowed duration per entry. Overstaying may result in fines, detention, or future entry bans.
Application Process & Visa Types
Selecting the correct category is the first essential step. Short-term visa types include tourism, business, investment, transit, student, press, and crew visas. Long-term visas are granted for purposes such as work, family reunification, education, and residence. Tourist visas are obtainable only through group applications. For business applications, invitation letters issued by private companies are not accepted alone; invitations must be officially issued by authorized municipal institutions. In student visas, the acceptance letter is required, and the category is determined as X1 or X2 depending on the duration. Family visit, training, and long-term stay applications require documents proving family relationships.
General Information on Required Documents
Documents vary by visa category, but generally include: application form, passport, biometric photos, invitation letter, reservation details, and documents showing your professional status. Applications can be made through the online system. Invitation letters and the application form are considered original and official documents—incorrect formatting may lead to refusal. The consulate may request original copies when necessary. After entering China, accommodation must be registered within 24 hours. For education or work exceeding six months, a medical certificate is required. The passport must remain valid throughout the process and must be carried during stay in China.
Visa Processing Time
The processing time after submission is approximately 8–10 business days. Official holidays, workload, or technical internal conditions may affect the duration. Applicants are advised to schedule their application accordingly.
Important Notes
If you plan to re-enter the mainland after entering Hong Kong, a double entry visa must be requested. For transit passes, a visa exemption is applied for up to 24 hours as long as you do not exit the airport. In China, it is mandatory to carry your passport at all times. In case of loss, you must report it to the nearest Turkish consulate. The current visa procedures should be followed in accordance with health, safety, and official regulations.
Visa Refusal
China visa applications may be refused depending on consular evaluation. Incorrect declaration, missing documents, invalid information, failure to comply with previous travel rules, or miscategorized applications are the main reasons for refusal. Professional guidance helps minimize risks and strengthens the application file. Marsel Visa consultants support you through every step to ensure a successful application process.
