🇮🇳 India Visa Appointment
Turkish citizens who are planning to travel to India are required to obtain a visa before their journey. Holders of Special (Green), Service (Gray), and Ordinary (Bordeaux) passports must obtain a visa prior to travel, while holders of Diplomatic (Black) passports are exempt from visas. Since 2013, India has made biometric fingerprinting mandatory for visa applications for security reasons. Even if you have previously provided fingerprints, this procedure must be repeated for each new application. Therefore, the applicant must be physically present at the consulate on the day of the appointment.
📌 India Visa Application Steps
The India visa application process includes booking an online appointment, filling out the electronic application form in English and in capital letters, uploading a biometric photo to the system, preparing the required documents, and providing fingerprints on the appointment day. Even the smallest error while filling out the online form may result in a visa refusal. For this reason, it is crucial that all information is accurate, up-to-date, and complete.
It is mandatory to appear in person at the consulate on the day of the appointment. Applicants over the age of 70 are exempt from this procedure. The documents submitted during the application must be up-to-date, particularly bank statements, business documents, and travel-related documents.
📝 Types of Indian Visas
Indian visa applications are categorized according to the purpose of travel. The main visa types are as follows:

- Work Visa
- Conference Visa
- Student Visa
- Transit Visa
- Entry Visa

- Medical/Attendant Visa
Indian tourist visas are generally issued for 6 months, either as single-entry or multiple-entry. For business visas, a 6-month multiple-entry visa can be obtained on the first application, and for subsequent applications, it is possible to apply for a 1-year multiple-entry visa. However, even if the visa is valid for more than 6 months, the maximum duration of stay in India is 6 months. In the case of multiple-entry visas, there must be at least 2 months between two separate trips.

🕒 How Many Days Does It Take to Get an Indian Visa?
Visa applications of Turkish citizens are usually finalized within 2 business days. Applications of foreigners without a residence permit in Türkiye may take 3-4 business days. These timeframes may vary depending on official holidays, workload at the Consulate or Embassy, or additional document requests. To avoid delays, it is recommended to start your application at least 20 days before your planned travel date.

⚠️ India Visa Refusal and Important Warnings
The authority to evaluate visa applications belongs solely to the Indian Embassy in Ankara and the Indian Consulate General in Istanbul. There is no guarantee that the visa will be approved. Applications may be refused due to incomplete documents, insufficient financial resources, or if the applicant fails to convince authorities that they will return to their country after the visa expires. In case of refusal, paid fees are non-refundable, but applicants may appeal after correcting deficiencies.
Passports must not be older than 10 years and must contain at least 2 blank pages. An approved visa does not guarantee entry into the country; the final decision lies with Indian border police. Please note that the Consulate has the right to request additional documents if deemed necessary.
