🇸🇰 Required Documents for Slovakia Family Visit Visa

Ordinary (maroon) passport holders who plan to travel to Slovakia for family or friend visits must apply for a Slovakia Family Visit Visa. Holders of Diplomatic (black), Special (green), and Service (grey) passports are exempt from visa procedures for short-term stays not exceeding 90 days. The documents required for a Slovakia family visit visa are determined by the Slovak Consulate. Before preparing your application file, it is strongly recommended to confirm the updated list with the Consulate. For a family visit visa, both standard personal documents and occupational documents depending on the applicant’s professional status must be prepared.

📝 Standard Documents

These are the essential documents required from all applicants for a Slovakia family visit visa. They include: a valid passport, Slovakia Schengen visa application form, biometric photograph, travel health insurance, accommodation and transportation reservations, proof of financial means, full population registry certificate, photocopies of previously issued visas (if any), and an invitation letter notarized by a relative living in Slovakia.

The passport must have been issued within the last 10 years, contain at least 2 blank pages, and be valid for at least 3 months after the return date from Slovakia. The application form must be completed fully, and the travel purpose must be marked as family visit. If travel includes other Schengen countries, in section 24 the applicant must select single, double, or multiple entry as appropriate. Each section of the form must be completed and signed. For underage applicants, the form must be signed by the parents or a legal guardian. Each applicant must submit a separate application form.

The biometric photograph must comply with Schengen standards, be clear, and taken within the last 6 months. Travel health insurance is mandatory, must be valid in Slovakia, and provide minimum coverage of €30,000. Accommodation and transportation reservations must be in the applicant’s name, match the travel dates, and cover the entire stay. If travel includes other Schengen countries, all accommodation and transportation documents for those countries must also be provided.

Financial documents must also be presented, including the last 3 months’ payslips, bank statements, and proof of income. Applicants must also provide a full population registry certificate showing the family relationship with the relative living in Slovakia. A notarized invitation letter from the host in Slovakia must be submitted in original. Applicants under the age of 18 traveling alone or with only one parent must provide a notarized consent letter (muvafakatname).

📌 Occupational Documents

In addition to the standard documents, the following must be prepared depending on the applicant’s professional status:

  • Employees: Last 3 months’ payslips (signed and stamped), SGK employment entry declaration, SGK service record, employer’s leave letter (on company letterhead, signed and stamped), company documents (chamber of commerce registration, tax certificate, trade registry gazette, signature circular).
  • Employers: SGK service record, visa request letter written in English on company letterhead (signed and stamped), proof of income (property deed, vehicle registration, etc.), company documents (chamber registration, trade registry gazette, tax certificate, signature circular).
  • Students: A current student certificate obtained from the educational institution or via e-Government.
  • Farmers: A farming certificate obtained from the agricultural chamber.
  • Retirees: A retirement certificate or an official pension statement from the bank.
  • Foreign Nationals in Turkey: A valid residence permit card in Turkey.

📌 Slovakia Family Visit Visa Application

Each applicant must complete and sign a separate Schengen visa application form. The travel plan must be clearly described, and if visiting other Schengen countries, these details must also be included in the cover letter and supported with reservation documents.

Applicants must schedule an appointment with the Slovak Consulate and provide biometric fingerprints. Applicants who have not submitted biometric data within the last 5 years are required to appear in person to provide fingerprints. To avoid delays in your travel, it is recommended to apply at least 30 days before your trip.

Slovakia family visit visa applications are generally finalized within 10 business days if documents are complete and accurate. However, official holidays, consular workload, or additional document requests may extend the process. For foreign nationals residing in Turkey, processing times may take longer.
