🇸🇰 Required Documents for Slovakia Tourist Visa

Citizens holding Ordinary (maroon) passports who plan to travel to the Slovak Republic for tourism purposes are required to apply for a Slovakia Tourist Visa. Holders of Diplomatic (black), Special (green), and Service (grey) passports are exempt from visa requirements for short-term stays not exceeding 90 days. The documents required for a Slovakia tourist visa are divided into two groups: standard documents and professional documents depending on the applicant’s occupational status. Before submitting your application, it is recommended to confirm the updated list of documents with the Slovak Consulate.

📝 Standard Documents

These are the personal documents required from all applicants in Slovakia tourist visa procedures. They include a valid passport, biometric photograph, Slovakia Schengen visa application form, travel health insurance, flight and accommodation reservations, proof of sufficient financial means, and photocopies of previously issued visas, if any. The passport must have been issued within the last 10 years, contain at least 2 blank pages, and remain valid for at least 3 months after the return date from Slovakia.

The biometric photograph must comply with Schengen photo standards and be affixed to the application form. The visa application form must be completed accurately with up-to-date contact details and signed by the applicant. For underage applicants, the form must be signed by their parents or legal guardian.

Travel health insurance must cover the entire stay in Slovakia and provide minimum coverage of €30,000. Flight and accommodation reservations must be included in the application file and must correspond with the planned travel dates. If traveling by private vehicle, the green card insurance and an international driving license must be submitted.

Proof of financial means must also be provided, such as bank statements from the last 6–12 months and income documents. If travel expenses will be covered by a sponsor, the sponsor’s income certificates and bank account statements must also be included.

📌 Professional Documents

In addition to standard documents, professional documents are required depending on the applicant’s occupation:

  • Employees: Last 3 months’ signed and stamped payslips, SGK service record, employment entry declaration, leave permission letter from employer, and company documents (signature circular, tax certificate, trade registry gazette, chamber of commerce registration).
  • Company Owners/Employers: Company documents, SGK service record, income documents, and a visa request letter written in English on company letterhead.
  • Students: Current student certificate from their educational institution.
  • Farmers: Farming certificate from the agricultural chamber and, if applicable, documents of registered vehicles or livestock.
  • Retirees: Retirement certificate or certified pension statement from the bank.
  • Lawyers, Doctors, Engineers, Pharmacists: A letter from their professional chamber and their professional ID card.
  • Foreign Nationals: Residence permit card in Turkey.

🇸🇰 Slovakia Visa Application

Before applying for a Slovakia tourist visa, it is strongly advised to confirm the updated list of required documents with the Slovak Consulate. The Schengen application form must be completed and signed without errors. A separate form must be filled in and signed for each applicant. If your travel plan includes visits to other Schengen countries, you should clearly mention these details in a cover letter and include supporting documents such as accommodation and transport reservations.

Visa applications are processed by appointment. Since biometric fingerprint registration is mandatory, applicants who have not previously given biometric data for a Schengen visa must appear in person at the Slovak Consulate to provide their fingerprints.

🕒 How Long Does It Take to Get a Slovakia Tourist Visa?

If documents are complete and accurate, Slovakia tourist visa applications are usually finalized within approximately 10 business days. However, the processing time may be extended due to consular workload, public holidays, or additional document requests. For this reason, it is recommended to apply at least 30 days before your travel date. Applications submitted less than 15 days prior to the intended travel date may not be accepted by the Slovak Consulate.

📌 Slovakia Schengen Visa

Slovakia is one of the 29 countries included in the Schengen area. A Slovakia Schengen visa allows entry into Slovakia and, depending on the validity and type of entry, short-term visits to other Schengen countries. In the visa application form, the first country of entry or the country of the longest stay must be correctly indicated. Clearly stating every detail of your travel plan increases the chances of a positive outcome.

❗ Attention

Citizens of North Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, and Montenegro who hold biometric passports are exempt from visa requirements for short-term travel to Slovakia.
