🇸🇮 Slovenia Visa Application

For your planned travels to Slovenia, different visa procedures apply depending on your passport type. Holders of Ordinary (Bordeaux) passports are required to obtain a visa for short-term visits to Slovenia, while holders of Diplomatic (Black), Special (Green), and Service (Grey) passports are exempt from visa requirements for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Since Slovenia is a member of the Schengen area, visas issued by Slovenia are Schengen visas and also grant travel rights within other Schengen countries.

For trips shorter than 90 days, Slovenia issues tourist visas, business visas, family/friend visit visas, cultural and sports event visas, and study visas. During the application process, the most important factors are completing the visa application form correctly, preparing all documents up to date, and ensuring compliance with the requirements set by the consulate. Applications are evaluated together with biometric data recorded in the Schengen Visa Information System. Applicants who have not previously registered their fingerprints must complete the biometric procedure at the consulate.

Submitting complete documentation, providing accurate contact details, and clearly stating the purpose of travel significantly increase the chances of a positive outcome. It is recommended that Slovenia Schengen visa applications be submitted at least 15 days before the planned travel date. However, applications can be lodged up to 3 months in advance of the trip.

📝 Required Documents for Slovenia Visa

The documents required for a Slovenia visa vary depending on the visa type applied for and the applicant’s professional or social status. For tourist trips, proof of accommodation and flight reservations must be submitted; for business visas, an invitation letter from the Slovenian company is required; for family or friend visits, the inviter’s documents must be added to the file. Supporting documents differ for employees, employers, retirees, and students. Foreign nationals residing in Turkey must also submit their residence permit cards as part of their application.

The accuracy of the information provided on the visa application form is of great importance. Contact details, especially phone numbers and e-mail addresses, must be correct and accessible. A separate application form must be completed for children, even infants as young as two years old. In addition, the Slovenian Consulate may invite applicants for an interview if deemed necessary.

🕒 How Long Does It Take to Get a Slovenia Visa?

Short-term Slovenia visa applications are usually finalized within about two weeks prior to the planned travel date. However, this period may be extended depending on incomplete documentation, consular workload, or the applicant’s individual circumstances. Processing times may also be longer for foreign nationals residing in Turkey.

It is strongly recommended to apply at least one month before your travel. Applications made less than 15 days before the trip may not be accepted by the Slovenian Consulate. Once your visa is approved, your passport with the visa stamped will be sent to your registered address.

📌 Erasmus and Study Visas

For Erasmus exchange programs or study purposes in Slovenia, additional documents are required alongside the standard Schengen visa documents. These include a letter of acceptance from the host university in Slovenia, an official invitation letter, and a support letter from the Turkish National Agency or TÜBİTAK confirming participation in an EU-funded exchange program. Original documents must be presented for education visa applications.
