The Greece transit visa is issued for individuals traveling to countries such as Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, or Serbia. 📝 Greece Transit Visa Standard Documents
Transit Visa Application Form:
A fully completed and personally signed Greece visa application form.
Passport:
Must be valid for at least 3 months after the end of travel. The passport should have been issued within the last 10 years and contain at least two blank visa pages. Previous passports and used pages must also be submitted. A photocopy of the page with your photo and photocopies of any previous Schengen or other visas should be included.
Personal Bank Statement and Bank Signature Circular:
A bank statement from the last 3 months showing a minimum balance of 70,000 TL, stamped and signed by the bank. The bank signature circular should also be provided.
Biometric Photograph:
Two photographs, 3.5x4.5 cm, taken within the last 6 months, with a white background, stapled to the top right corner of the application form.
Employer Letter:
A letter on company letterhead addressed to the consulate, stating the purpose and dates of travel and confirming that the applicant will leave the country before the visa period ends. Must include an original signature and company stamp.
Travel Health Insurance:
Insurance covering the entire Schengen region for the duration of travel with a minimum coverage of 30,000 Euros.
National ID Card Photocopy:
Front and back sides on a single page.
Full Population Registry Certificate:
Should include family and address information.
Travel Documents:
Tickets or other proof of transit, such as plane or bus tickets.
Greece Airport Visa (if applicable):
Required if a valid airport visa is necessary.
Additional Income Documents:
Property deeds, bank passbooks, or stamped and signed bank statements.
International Driving License and Vehicle Documents (for travelers by car):
Driving license (licenses renewed after 01.01.2016 are valid as international licenses), vehicle registration, green insurance, and a letter stating the purpose and dates of travel. If the vehicle belongs to a third party, an authorization letter from the vehicle owner is required.
👔 Occupational Documents
Employees:
A letter on company letterhead stating position, employment start date, salary, leave period, and confirming continued employment after return (original), last 3 months’ pay slips, SGK employment registration, 4A service record.
Business Owners:
Letter on company letterhead specifying travel dates and purpose (with original signature), last 3 months’ business activity certificate, photocopy of trade registry gazette, tax certificate, signature circular, and approved bank statements.
Homemakers:
Proof of financial support; if involved in a family business, company documents.
Farmers:
Certificate from the Chamber of Agriculture.
Retirees:
Last 3 months’ bank statement and barcode-verified retirement certificate.
Students:
Recently issued barcode-verified student certificate.
Unemployed Individuals:
Financial documents and letter from the person supporting them, ID photocopy, and bank statement.
Financial Support Documents:
Stamped and signed bank or company documents showing financial status, plus a letter stating the purpose of travel.
Foreign Applicants:
Residence permit in Turkey and work permit, if available.
Documents of the Destination Country:
Visa or residence permit and travel/accommodation documents must be included in the application file.
👶 Applicants Under 18
If an applicant under 18 travels alone or with only one parent, a notarized consent letter from both parents or legal guardians is required. In the case of divorced parents, a court decision proving custody must be submitted. Separate application files must be prepared for each child. Applicants under 12 are exempt from biometric procedures and should have a separate file.
⏱ How Long Does a Greece Transit Visa Take?
Applications are typically processed within 14-15 business days. High-demand periods and public holidays may extend the process. Delays due to appointments are possible. It is recommended to apply at least 2 months before travel.
⚠️ Important Notes
A separate form must be completed and required documents attached for each applicant. Financial documents must be included for applicants who are not employed and whose expenses are covered by family members. If fingerprints (VIS) were given after 25.09.2021, personal appearance may not be required. For third-party applications, a letter of authorization and ID photocopy must be provided. If documents come from outside the jurisdiction of the Greek Consulate, proof of residence may be requested.
