🇬🇧 UK Tier 5 (Sportsperson and Creative Worker) Temporary Work Visa
The Sportsperson and Creative Worker Temporary Work Visa, a subcategory of the UK Tier 5 visa, is a special visa type designed for individuals who wish to engage in artistic or sporting activities in the United Kingdom for a limited period. Applicants who receive approval for this visa are permitted to carry out the activities stated in their Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) and may also work in a second job for up to 20 hours per week.
This visa is commonly applied for by TV and film actors, dancers, artists in the fine arts sector, film producers, and crew members. In the sportsperson category, internationally recognized athletes from any sport who will contribute to their field’s development in the UK may apply. However, it is not enough for athletes to have international success in their field; they must also be endorsed by the UK Sports Governing Body. The work undertaken in the UK must be directly related to the activities of the sponsoring organization.
📌 Required Documents for the UK Tier 5 Sportsperson/Creative Worker Visa
Applicants must prepare the following core documents:
- A passport with at least 6 months of validity and any previous passports and visas, if available
- If the sponsorship document states that not all expenses will be covered, the applicant's bank statement must show that there has been at least £945 in the account for the 90 days prior to the visa appointment date.
- Tuberculosis test result depending on the country of citizenship of the applicant
- Official invitation or approval document to be received from the sponsor
- Certified translations of all documents into English or Welsh by a sworn translator
- Additional documents that may be requested by the consulate
🕒 Visa Duration and Extension Conditions
The UK Tier 5 Sportsperson/Creative Worker Visa allows a stay of up to 12 months or 14 days beyond the end date on the Certificate of Sponsorship (whichever is shorter). It can be extended, provided the application is made before the visa expires. Extensions are granted for up to 12 months or 14 days beyond the date stated on the CoS, whichever is shorter. In certain cases, applicants may extend their total stay to up to 2 years, provided they remain with the same sponsor and meet the relevant conditions.
Artists performing multiple shows can apply with a single sponsor certificate valid for all performances. However, if working with multiple sponsors, a separate certificate is required from each, and there must be no more than 14 days between performances.
👨👩👧👦 Family Reunion
Holders of the Tier 5 Sportsperson/Creative Worker Visa can apply for a UK residence permit for their spouse and children under 18 through the family reunion process. Applicants must provide evidence of sufficient financial means to support their family members. An average balance of £630 per family member must be maintained in the bank account.
